File Preparation & Artwork Guidelines
File Preparation & Artwork Guidelines
To get the best possible results from your DTF transfers and custom gang sheets, your artwork should be prepared correctly before uploading. At Colorful Elegance, we recommend submitting clean, high-quality, print-ready files so your designs can be produced with sharp details, vibrant colors, and a professional finish.
Proper file preparation also helps reduce delays, artwork issues, and unexpected printing results.
Recommended File Format
For DTF printing, we recommend using:
- PNG files
- Transparent backgrounds
- High-resolution artwork
- Correctly sized designs
- Print-ready files
A transparent PNG is preferred because it allows your design to print without an unwanted white or colored background.
If your file includes a background that you do not want printed, please remove it before uploading whenever possible.
Use High-Resolution Artwork
For the best print quality, artwork should be high resolution and clear at the final print size.
We recommend preparing artwork at approximately 300 DPI whenever possible.
Low-resolution images may appear:
- Blurry
- Pixelated
- Soft around the edges
- Less detailed when printed
Increasing the size of a small or low-quality image does not automatically improve its resolution. Always check your artwork at the actual size you plan to print.
Transparent Backgrounds
Your artwork should have a transparent background unless the background is intentionally part of the design.
Please check carefully before uploading your file. A white background may look invisible on a white screen but could still be included in the artwork.
If background removal or artwork cleanup is required, additional design or setup fees may apply.
Design Size Matters
Please upload your design at the exact size you want it printed whenever possible.
For example, if you want a design printed at 11 inches wide, prepare or select the artwork at approximately that size before submitting your order.
Customers are responsible for reviewing:
- Design dimensions
- Orientation
- Quantity
- Placement on gang sheets
- Final artwork appearance
We print based on the artwork and sizing information submitted with the order.
DTF Gang Sheet Preparation
When creating a DTF gang sheet, arrange your designs carefully so you can make the most of the available space.
Before submitting your gang sheet:
- Make sure designs do not overlap
- Leave enough space between individual designs for cutting
- Check that all artwork is correctly sized
- Remove unwanted backgrounds
- Make sure no designs extend outside the printable area
- Review all spelling, names, numbers, and artwork details
If you are uploading a completed gang sheet, it should be fully assembled and ready to print.
Fine Details & Small Elements
Very thin lines, extremely small text, tiny details, and delicate design elements may not reproduce as clearly as larger artwork.
For better results, avoid artwork with excessively thin details whenever possible.
Small text should also be reviewed carefully before submitting your file. If the text is difficult to read on your screen at the final print size, it may also be difficult to reproduce clearly in print.
Colors May Vary
Please understand that screen colors and printed colors may not look exactly the same.
Computer monitors, phones, tablets, and printers can display colors differently. Slight color variations are normal in the printing process.
Colorful Elegance cannot guarantee an exact screen-to-print color match unless specific color-matching arrangements have been confirmed in advance.
Review Your Artwork Before Ordering
Before submitting your order, please double-check your file for:
- Spelling errors
- Incorrect names or numbers
- Missing design elements
- Unwanted backgrounds
- Incorrect sizing
- Low-resolution artwork
- Cropped or cut-off graphics
- Incorrect colors
Once your artwork has entered production, changes may not be possible.
